Hand-Painted Skateboard: Original Acrylic Painting on 8.0" Wooden Deck
I painted this wooden skateboard deck using acrylic gouache. It is finished with a semigloss varnish. It is intended as wall decor, but could be used for a functional skateboard.
This painting is called "The Invention of Moonlight." It depicts the sun bestowing light onto the moon. The sun passes a small speck of light that illuminates both of their hands. This vaguely pagan design incorporates my love of sumptuous curves and dramatic lighting. I wanted the waves of sunbeams to collide and intermingle with the tide that the moon commands.
The painting is designed so that when you spin the board, the figures rotate around the point of light in the center.
